- An attempted military revolt in Japan failed. 17 officers were executed.
- Anglo-Egyptian treaty between Great Britain and Egypt left the British
in charge of the Suez Canal zone.

- August 4 General Metaxas seized power in Greece.
- October 27 Formation of the Berlin-Rome Axis.
- November 17 Conclusion of the German-Japanese Pact.

- December 5 Russia adopted a New "Democratic" Constitution.
