- January 30 Took Dairy Bacteriologist Examination
- March 9 Received report of ratings as a Dairy Bacteriologist in the
US Civil Service. Scored #14 in the Nation.
- June 5 Registered for the draft (Unitied States War Departement).
- In the fall of 1917 Ezra accepted an appointment in the Public Health
Service and went to Chattanooga Tennessee
